Distribution and retail prices
In April 2011, the State Government announced changes to South East Queensland's (SEQ) water structure and delivery, including the introduction of a SEQ water price cap.
Water price cap
Effective from 1 July 2011, the price cap applies to the distribution and retail charges on water and sewerage (excluding trade waste and recycled water) bills for residents and small businesses. Legislation was introduced limiting any increases to these charges to no more than the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for a two-year period, until 30 June 2013.

The Queensland Government's bulk water price has been controlled through a 10-year bulk water price path since 2008. This means the price increase for bulk water across SEQ in 2011/2012 is $54. Read more about bulk water prices.
