Projects
To ensure sustainable water supplies, the Queensland Water Commission is engaged in planning to:
- develop long-term water supply strategies
- establish a regional Water Grid
- implement water restrictions
- manage water demand
- provide advice to government and
- reform the water industry.
Projects completed and currently in operation include:
- a pipeline water grid to linking water storages and transport water to where it is needed
- alternative water supplies, such as desalination and groundwater
- recycling water for a range of uses, such as industrial, irrigation and commercial purposes
- additional water storages, such as building new dams and raising existing weirs and dams
- retrofitting homes with water saving devices
- reducing pressure and leaks in mains and water pipes
- efficiently operating water storages.
