Gardening tips:
The below tips will help residents to water their garden at home more efficiently:
- Water only when the garden needs it—when plants are showing signs of stress or the soil is dry.
- Water deeply to encourage root growth—frequent shallow watering causes plants to grow shallow roots, leaving them more vulnerable to drought and disease.
- Mulch gardens to reduce evaporation.
- Improve soil quality to enable it to retain moisture.
- Avoid watering when it is windy.
- Choose water efficient plants.
