Drought exit strategy
A safe and secure Drought Exit Strategy has been announced by the Queensland Water Commission which outlines an easing of general restricitons once the combined dam levels reach 40 percent.
At the first step back a new regime - High Level Restrictions - will be introduced and the community will be asked to Target 170.
Throughout the current drought, the Queensland Water Commission has used a consistent analytical approach to assess our water security outlook and to design restrictions and water saving targets. Through detailed modelling updated with the latest data, the Commission has assessed:
- What impact have recent inflows had?
- What is the current water security outlook for SEQ?
- What are the prudent exit levels from Extreme Level Restrictions?
- How should Restriction Levels be redesigned given the changes we have made to our water use during the current drought?
