Visitor accommodation
To help visitors use water efficiently, traveller accommodation operators are encouraged to display water efficiency information in bathrooms or other appropriate locations. Suggested information for signage may include:
- Spend less than 4 minutes in the shower.
- Turn off the tap while brushing teeth or shaving.
- Hang towels to minimise laundry.
Operators are encouraged to display this information with other sustainability information.
The information could also be provided to guests upon check-in and displayed in accommodation foyers and room compendiums. This also provides an opportunity for operators to promote other water efficiency measures being undertaken on the premises.
Further information on water efficiency related to tourism can be obtained from the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection.
