About the Commission

The Queensland Water Commission's mission is to ensure safe, secure and sustainable water supplies for South East Queensland by:

  • developing long-term water supply strategies
  • managing water demand
  • providing advice to government
  • reforming the water industry.

The Commission is also responsible for managing the impacts on groundwater levels from coal seam gas water extraction by petroleum tenure holders.
