Queensland Water Commission Securing our water together

Who is delivering the project?

The Western Corridor Recycled Water Project is an integral part of the Queensland Government’s South East Queensland Water Grid. The project will have the capacity to supply up to 232 million litres a day of purified recycled water to power stations, industry and agriculture, and to Wivenhoe Dam to supplement drinking supplies.

The Department of Infrastructure and Planning is co-ordinating the project for the Queensland Government. Western Corridor Recycled Water Pty Ltd was established to manage the procurement and construction of the project.

The Western Corridor Recycled Water Project is Australia’s largest recycled water project and the third largest advanced water treatment project in the world. The world’s leading engineering, construction, project management and water services companies are delivering the project through a multi-alliancing framework.

Five alliances are designing and building the pipelines and three advanced water treatment plants:

  • Bundamba Alliance
  • Eastern Pipeline Alliance
  • Western Pipeline Alliance
  • Gibson Island Alliance
  • Luggage Point Alliance

Once completed, the advanced water treatment plants will be operated by Veolia Water, a world leader in water services, in a 20-year agreement with the Queensland Government.
