SEQ Water Market

The SEQ Water Market is the wholesale exchange for the supply of Declared Water Services to the Water Grid Manager and the sale by the Water Grid Manager of water supplied by Declared Water Services.
Rules Administrator
The Queensland Water Commission is the Rules Administrator for the SEQ Water Market Rules. The Rules Administrator is responsible for:
- administration and enforcement of the Market Rules
- monitoring compliance with the Market Rules and the effectiveness of the Market Rules, and may reasonably require Grid Participants to supply information and reports from time to time for this purpose
- the performance of all of its obligations under the Market Rules.

Statutory Authorities
New statutory authorities have been established - through the South East Queensland Water (Restructuring) Act 2007 - to own and operate key infrastructure and participate in the market, including:
- SEQ Water Grid Manager
- Queensland Bulk Water Supply Authority
- Queensland Manufactured Water Authority - SureSmart Water and Western Corridor Recycled Water Project
- Queensland Bulk Water Transport Authority.
Legislation
Chapter 2, Part 5A of the Water Act 2000 provides the regulatory framework governing the operation of the SEQ Water Market.
