Queensland Water Commission Securing our water together

Medium level restrictions

Medium level water restrictions were highlighted in the recently released Drought Exit Strategy. High level restrictions were implemented when our combined SEQ dam levels reached 40% capacity. Medium level restrictions will be implemented at 50% capacity.  Following consultation, Medium level water restrictions have been released for information.

Overview:

The proposed Medium level restrictions allow for additional water use outdoors and a water consumption target of 200 litres per person per day. Specifically Medium level restrictions will allow additional water use, such as:

  • Use of a single hand held hose (with twist/ trigger nozzle) for two 30 minute periods on allocated days to:
    • water gardens
    • wash cars
    • undertake general outdoor cleaning, such as wash houses and hose outdoor areas other than paths and driveways
  • Use of a bucket to:
    • water gardens between 4pm and 8am on any day
    • clean outdoors at any time
  • Use of efficient irrigation systems to water gardens

The Efficient Irrigation for Water Conservation Guideline has also been released which outline how you can efficiently use town water to water your garden under Medium level restrictions.
