Queensland Water Commission Securing our water together

Draft Level 6 package

Draft Level 6 water restrictions and other associated measures were announced on 30 September 2007. It included a comprehensive set of measures to make sure everyone saves and uses water efficiently.

The Commission consulted with stakeholders, councils and peak groups.

Consultation

The draft Level 6 package was developed through extensive consultation the 12 SEQ councils, peak industry associations and several Water Efficiency Assessors before its release for consultation on 30 September 2007.

During the consultation period feedback was received from Local and State Government agencies, industry associations, businesses and members of the community. A total of 52 submissions were received.

Submissions reflect an overwhelming support from the community, businesses and government agencies to work with Queensland Water Commission to lead water saving and efficiency initiatives.

State government agencies, educational institutions, industry associations, businesses, residents and water efficiency assessors supported the underlying principles of draft Level 6 package, in particular the consistency achieved through the Non-residential Notice of Procedures.

Non-residential users and councils were largely supportive of the Non-residential Excessive Water Users Program including the measures outlined in the draft Notice of Procedures and the changes instituted in the Water Efficiency Management Plan improvement project. Details of the Notice of Procedures have been amended to ease council administration.

The Commission gave careful consideration to feedback received from all stakeholders when finalising the details of the Level 6 package.
