Business restrictions
Saving water is everyone’s business and workplaces and industry must achieve long-term savings. Business and industry, government and other large (non-residential) users of water need to conserve water supplies by using less and being more efficient water users.
Business restriction highlights
- Water users of more than 10 million litres a year must comply with their Water Efficiency Management Plan to achieve 25% savings or best practice water use
- Water users of more than 1 million litres a year must have water efficient appliances, like low-flow taps, trigger sprays, showerheads, urinals and cooling towers.
- Vehicle washers must only use water in accordance with guidelines
- Commercial pool and spa operators must keep a weekly log and install a rainwater tank, a sub-meter and a clear view screen in the backwash outlet line where required, together with a range of water efficient fittings
- Operators of visitor accommodation must display water conservation information in bathrooms to help guests be waterwise Read more
- Business and industry must provide compliance reports and will face tough penalties for non-compliance.
Sunshine Coast, Redlands and Scenic Rim
Restrictions for non-residential water users commenced in the Sunshine Coast Regional Council, Redland City Council and Scenic Rim Regional Council local government areas on 30 March 2009. The date by which non-residential water users will be required to comply with restriction requirements will vary according to water end use and/or the water consumption level.
