About the Queensland Water Commission
The Queensland Water Commission is an independent, statutory authority responsible for achieving safe, secure and sustainable water supplies in South East Queensland and other designated regions.
We were established in June 2006 under the Water Act and led by three founding Commissioners.
Our role is to ensure sustainable water supplies by developing long term water supply strategies, establishing a regional water grid, implementing water restrictions, managing water demand, providing advice to government and reforming the water industry.
We operate under a legislative framework defined in the Water Act 2000. We work with a number of partners including government departments, agencies and water service providers.
The Commission is led by Commissioner Mary Boydell, a CEO and an executive management group.
